About Us

Over a Century of Memorial Craftsmanship

Geere & Pepper, James & Pepper, and Geere & Co are long-established, independent, family-run memorial masonry businesses proudly serving the communities of Luton, Dunstable, Hemel Hempstead, Aylesbury, and the surrounding areas.

Rooted in tradition and supported by three generations of stonemasonry expertise, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship and personal service. Each memorial is thoughtfully designed by our skilled stonemasons, using quality materials and traditional techniques, to create a lasting and respectful tribute to your loved ones.

We ensure that you are treated with sympathy and understanding by all our staff, who are committed to providing the highest standard of care and service to each family we serve. We will guide you through each stage and aspect of choosing a memorial that will be personal and individual to the memory of your loved one, as a memorial is so much more than just marking the passing of a loved one, it is a lasting remembrance; a legacy for today and future generations.

Company History

James Pepper established his stonemasonry business in Shefford in 1886. Renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and expertise in stone carving, he quickly gained recognition in the field. By 1894, the business relocated to its current premises in Hitchin, continuing its legacy of quality and artistry.

In 1896, Geere & Co. was founded in Luton by the Geere family, also specialising in stonemasonry. The company later acquired James Pepper’s business, leading to the formation of the partnership known as Geere & Pepper.

Today, the combined legacy of these two historic firms is carried forward by the current owners — a family now in its third generation of memorial masons, dedicated to upholding the tradition of excellence in stonework.
